Asserting Your Rights Respectably
If we do not exercise our rights, we lose them.
The best way to exercise your rights and protect your home is by creating a written record of your communications to your landlord or property manager. Always keep a copy for your records.
COVID-19 Emergency Grace Period for Rent
Use this letter to notify your landlord that you intend to assert your right to use the six-month grace period to pay any unpaid rent balances that came due between April 1, 2020 and September 30, 2020, and that you intend to pay back all unpaid rent no later than March 31, 2020, as allowed by law. This letter must be received by the landlord no later than 14 days after your Landlord notified you of your outstanding rent amount due (your landlord can notify you of your unpaid rents after October 1, 2020).
