Forming a Tenants Association
The power of collective action transforms individual vulnerability into secure, long-term housing stability.
When you own a manufactured or floating home but lease the land beneath it, standing alone against a park landlord can leave you vulnerable to arbitrary rule shifts, unexpected rent hikes, or deferred maintenance. Forming a Tenants Association transforms individual vulnerability into collective strength.
Why Form an Association?
In manufactured home parks and floating home communities, residents face a structural power imbalance: owning the home but leasing the land.
Without organization, a tenant stands alone against a landlord. By standing together, residents provide a stronger voice at the legislative level and establish the infrastructure needed to protect against arbitrary rent increases and aggressive management tactics.
Tenants have the right to form a tenant’s association, canvas the park, collect dues, and use park facilities without landlord interference.
