UPDATE: In order to facilitate this new program, the Board has voted to strike the rule within our bylaws which required a minimum of 10 members to become a Chapter. Our new bylaws will allow any Tenants Association or Committee with 3 or more members, to apply to become a Chapter.
When you joined OSTA as a member, you likely joined with the hopes of making a difference in your own park or marina. At our conference, as we looked around the room, what we saw was a room full of leaders. Leaders who deeply cared for their neighbors.
As part of our core mission at OSTA, we set out to empower park and marina residents. Each Chapter, right now, has a unique opportunity to join us in shaping the future of OSTA. Your Chapter can do this, and earn money for your group at the same time.
As we continue to grow, it is essential that our group leaders (likely you, if you’re reading this!) are educated and equipped to be a resource for other residents. We want you ready to take action within your park or marina, whenever the need arises.
We are soon to launch our first OSTA Chapter Led Pilot program. Don’t miss out on this opportunity for your Chapter to decide how this new program will run. You will work directly with OSTA Board Members to provide feedback and input. OSTA will be consulting with Pilot Chapters to make decisions on how the program will function, to make sure that it meets our member’s needs.
Some of the many benefits include: Rebate Checks, issued quarterly, based on the amount OSTA receives from your Chapter memberships and renewals. This fund is to help you run your organization, make copies, provide meeting refreshments, pay the rec hall deposit- whatever is needed to keep your Chapter alive and full of vitality.
Free University level tenant rights education from Bill Bateman’s class, starting this March at OSU. Pre-packaged park and marina meeting packets with everything you need to educate residents in your facility- from handouts, speaking points, slides and videos. You’ll have up-to-date, ready-to-share content.
More control over your Chapter membership lists- stay in the know! Chapter leaders will be able to add and renew members, keeping their own list updated. Your Chapter will have priority access to and support from your local District Directors, at quarterly Chapter Meetings.
Most importantly, this is no “one-and-done” project. You will have the chance to continue your free education and move your Chapter up in ranks to become the Head Chapter for your county, with invitations to attend exclusive legislative advocacy sessions, a spot in our newsletter for your Chapter and higher rebate amounts.
OSTA FORWARD GOAL:
To build an army of well-educated and motivated members, who know how to take action when needed and are ready to organize for better legislation. To become a force to be reckoned with!
