VICTORY FOR CORVALLIS MOBILE HOME PARK RESIDENTS

An urgent request for assistance reached OSTA from a resident of Corvallis Mobile Home Park. This park, historically a pioneer in advocating for tenant rights in Oregon, is once again at the forefront of this crucial issue.

OSTA Chapter 815 has been reactivated following reports of harassment by the park’s former manager.

Residents united, submitting dozens of affidavits and forming their own elected committee. Among the reported violations were
illegal entries into homes, tampering with mail, issuing unreasonable notices, banning residents from common spaces, and unwarranted evictions. These actions are particularly egregious as tenants own their homes but rent the land.

OSTA presented the Chapter certificate at one of the committee’s initial meetings. Despite fears of retaliation, half of the committee members attended. Their Chapter President, Amanda Henevoy, demonstrated remarkable courage and leadership by contacting the appropriate authorities and initiating several investigations.

In July, the tenants at Corvallis Mobile Home Park achieved a significant victory. The on-site manager was terminated by Sterling Property Management for undisclosed reasons. Henevoy has since been able to secure a meeting with Sterling Property Management to discuss their response to the issues and what they plan to do going forward.
