Senator Golden, Rep. Pam Marsh, OSTA President Bill Bateman

OSTA President Bill Bateman invited Sen. Golden and Rep. Marsh to a park visit to talk about what is coming up and to give our thanks.

Rep. Pam Marsh is the one who approached OSTA last year, and asked for our input. She came to us because we have a strong membership base, which enables us to gather data from park and marina residents. She knew we had the pulse on what happens in these communities.

With our member’s support, through our survey last November, we were able to provide Rep. Marsh with the data she needed to support this initiative. Through the process, Senator Golden was present, at the crucial moments that mattered, as a key speaker on the issue. He gained the bill much needed publicity.

Senator Golden and Rep. Marsh, came out to have a quiet lunch and graciously accepted cake and the appreciation of us and the park residents in Talent, OR.

OSTA does not endorse any political candidate. The facts are, these two people were the driving force behind this bill. They worked tirelessly to gather input, collect data, draft, write, and promote this bill. While they, and we, know there is still work to be done, in order to keep housing affordable for our seniors- this is certainly a moment and a cause worth celebrating now.

Rep. Marsh relayed the sentiment that HB3054 was the shining highlight of an otherwise dull and arduous legislative session this year. Everyone who was in support felt very good about what was accomplished.
