We’d like to extend our congratulations to the residents of Leisure Days Mobile Home Community and Shady Cove, OR. At a meeting yesterday at a residential home, a new tenants’ organization was formed in less than 4 hours. The meeting, attended by 20 Park residents, was enthusiastic and ready to take care of some of their many concerns.
Some of these concerns included park managers’ desire for audio and video surveillance, a lack of regular office hours, and a lack of responsiveness to tenants’ concerns and questions. The tenants had already voted down the audio surveillance provision, but the security company said that the feature could be turned on or off by the manager.
On further questioning, it was also determined that the tenants would not be able to see these files. Problems like these are why tenant associations are popping up like mushrooms in the springtime. If you and your park feel you could benefit from a tenants association, the first step to taking back control of the park is to reach out to OSTA, and we will do our best to schedule a visit to your park by one of our representatives.
All of the setup material was provided at no charge in a PDF format. When we left, they were already typing up their tenants’ association notice for the office and a letter for new tenants to present to the manager and the rental company. Will they open the door or acknowledge the document? Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted.
