YOUR RIGHTS: Inspections Required Before You Sell?
We have been hearing reports about landlords require an inspection before selling a home in a park. All manufactured home owners have a right to sell their home.
Unless your lease explicitly states that an inspection is required prior to sale or purchase, then you are not required to get one, nor can you be forced to sign any agreement after your lease begins which will require an inspection.
We have heard of some landlords requiring tenants to sign an agreement as part of their notice to sell which binds them into having an inspection done.
If you are required to give your landlord notice of your intent to sell, you may do so by simply writing your own letter. You do not have to sign any agreement in order to sell.
As part of your membership benefits, we’re introducing “Letters to Landlord” you can use as a template

COMMUNITY CORNER
One thing all great parks have in common is a thriving social community within their park. During a recent visit to Gainsborough Park in Eugene, Rochelle Love Elder, OSTA’s Co-Chair, reports that this OSTA Chapter is a shining example of how to do things right.
Their Chapter meets regularly and nearly 50% of their park residents participate in their social events. During her visit they were planning a community sale, where residents donate items to raise funds for their social group.
They have a musician coming sometime in the fall to put on a community concert and they have a consistent parkwide potluck every month. Their owner/landlord gets 5 star-approval from us. He maintains the community space well and keeps it openly available for everyone to use. Write to us and tell us what kind of social events keep your park’s residents together and happy.
